An Overdue High-Five
In the spring of 1966 I was the catcher on the varsity baseball team. We were playing N.Y. Maritime Academy at home. Going into the bottom of the 9th, neither team had scored a run. We managed to score a run and win the game 1-0. I was the catcher for 3 years and this was probably the best and most exciting game I got to catch. Al pitched all 9 innings for a 6 hit shut out. I also scored the winning run and in the excitement I never got to congratulate Al on the masterful game he had pitched. So now, 55 years later, "Nice game, Al."
