Nathaniel “Nate” Davis ’76: Empowering Talented Students to Pursue STEM

Davis is the former CEO and current executive chairman of Stride, Inc. (formerly K12 Inc.), an innovative online curriculum and education management organization.
Prior to joining Stride, Inc., Davis had figured prominently in emerging technology fields, including telecommunications, satellite radio and digital media. He held leadership positions with the RANND Advisory Group, XM Satellite Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, XO Communications, Nextel, MCI Telecommunications and MCI Metro. He has served on the boards of Unisys, RLJ Lodging Trust, Mutual of America Capital Management, EarthLink, Charter Communications and Telica Switching.
As both a business leader and a philanthropist, he has become extremely passionate about providing students with the tools and resources they need to learn, grow and succeed. That’s one reason Davis continues giving back to his alma mater, working to increase diversity in STEM fields.
He serves as a key champion of the Stevens ACES (Accessing Careers in Engineering and Science) program, which provides enhanced opportunities and financial support for students from underserved communities to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) degrees.
Davis also helped launch the Art Harper Saturday Academy, a new multi-year program aimed at encouraging and assisting local high school students as they prepare for potential studies and careers in STEM fields. That program is named for the late Art Harper ’78, who served as a CEO with General Electric and later worked in private equity before passing away in 2017.
